Roads in Japan are rarely dull. Brightened by itasha -- "painful" cars that are actually cute and feature anime characters, or the bosozoku -- roadsides are even adorned by animals when under construction.
Get out to the highways though and you'll encounter another Japanese phenonmenon -- the dekotora.
